We are all equal
We are all equal in the eyes of God. That’s how we should treat each other. We should see everyone in the same way as we see ourselves. Skin colour, racial differences and other characteristics are irrelevant. What is important is that we connect at a spiritual level.
I may be fortunate in that I have always viewed people that way. I also have always believed that there is good and bad in everyone. Despite that it’s not easy to connect with the good side of some people. They just have too much of a leaning towards the bad side of their personality. It has been difficult to ignore those bad characteristics but that is becoming easier since my epiphany experience.
Improving our behaviour
We are all sinners, as none of us are able to live up to the perfection expected by God. We are all dependant on His forgiveness and grace. Our fate will depend on our adherence to Christian principles, our repentance and the grace of God.
It is hard to accept that we do things that are wrong. That makes it even harder to recognise that we need to bring about any change to our behaviour. So there is little incentive for us to make any effort to improve.
Recognising our faults or deficiencies could make us feel depressed. Don’t look at it that way. If you are making an effort to improve you are a much better person already than the majority who fail to seek change. Remember that God knows what’s in your heart. Being genuine in your efforts to change is more important than what you achieve.
Boiling the frog

There is an expression that says, “boiling the frog.” A frog placed into boiling water would immediately jump out. It would not do that if placed into cooler water. Gradual increases in water temperature would be tolerable. So it would not realise when it was being boiled to death.

The expression ‘boiling the frog’ also describes how gradual change may occur in us. Even a single step in the right direction is a worthwhile improvement. As it’s said, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” That’s OK if we are moving in the right direction but not if we are moving in the wrong direction.
Dictators use the ‘boiling the frog’ approach to get public acceptance of their distorted views. It moves a society slowly towards greater authoritarianism. Some Russian commentators who left Russia due to the war in Ukraine lived through such experiences. They did not recognise what was happening until it was too late.
I can see this happening in America today and that’s quite disturbing. Democratic nations worldwide can also see it happening. I don’t want to comment too much on political issues but I feel sympathy for the American people. I only hope that they realise what is happening and that they can follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. It means carefully considering which direction you are leaning and moving away from those that exhibit anti-Christ behaviour.
